MAX-4 Base

The MAX-4 Pallet System Base is the perfect foundation for advanced 4 and 5 axis palletized workholding. Out of the box, the MAX-4 Base bolts to rotary units with 4 or 6 t-slot platters as well as 140mm bolt hole patterns. A 96mm pull stud pattern is an additional mounting option. The system is air actuated to release pallets and spring powered for the locking action. This means pallets stay securely locked even with no air to them. A center and side air inlet allow you to customize the setup for center bore or side plumbing.

MAX-4 Pallets

Two pallet sizes of 2″ x 5.9″ and 6″ x 5.9″ locate on the MAX Base with .0002″ repeatability due to the tapered, self-centering geometry. 6061-T6 Aluminum assures easy machinability. All locking surfaces are hardened stainless steel. The tops and sides of these standard pallets are blank and ready to customize.

The hardened stainless steel Pallet Lock Insert is secured using 8 hardened shoulder bolts (1/4-20 thread). Rotary Union

Use our Rotary Union to reduce chances of twisted airlines that can create an unsafe condition. This low-speed, low-friction, high-pressure rotary union routes airlines through the center bore of 4th axis rotary units. It is a plug and play integration with the MAX-4 Base which has an 1/8-27 NPT center tapped inlet. Install using a 5/32″ hex wrench through the center.

FAQs

1. What is the biggest difference between the MAX-4 and the RotoVise Pro?

While the RotoVise Pro focuses on enhancing 4th axis machining productivity with its multi-face access and compact design, the MAX-4 Pallet System aims at maximizing part density and minimizing idle time for both 4 and 5 axis machines. The MAX-4's single pallet is best for quicker changes for smaller, multi-face parts while the RotoVise Pro excels in vise or pallet applications, albeit with longer part change times.

2. What is the accuracy of the MAX-4 System?

The repeatability of the MAX-4 System is .0002" or greater. In most rotary applications, the best repeatability is more dependent on the accuracy of establishing the setup's origin, the center of rotation, and the condition of the rotary unit itself.

3. How rigid is the system?

In short, very rigid. The MAX-4 Base is intended to be bolted down with 4 or 6 bolts depending on the style of the rotary platter. Compared to other zero-point systems, the MAX-4 Pallet's locking hardware is secured to the pallet with eight 1/4-20 shoulder bolt fasteners on a 3.2" diameter pattern rather than relying on the thread of a single pullstud found on traditional systems.

4. Is there a hardware kit to make my own pallets?

Yes. We sell a hardware kit to make your own pallets. The kit comes with the higher complexity/accuracy lock ring, hardware and downloads to make your own pallet. Toolpaths needed are pocketing, reaming and tapping of any material you prefer.
